Battery Capacity

Battery capacity is the amount of energy stored and is measured in Ampere-hours (Ah), also commonly referred to as Amp hours. The more Amp hours in the battery, the larger the capacity. Often you will find batteries being rated in milli-Ampere hours (mAh). This is simply 1/1000 of an Amp hour. So, 1000 mAh equals 1 Ah.

The capacity of a lithium ion battery will begin to decrease with age and usage, and this process is irreversible. Over time, the cells deteriorate and the active energy needed to hold a full charge decreases. This results in reduced runtime.

We use state-of-the-art capacity cells, which are often higher capacity then those found in your older, original battery. For example, your original battery may have been rated at 3600 mAh, but we may make the same battery at 4400 mAh. We are able to do this because we use only the latest capacity cells, which improve each year.

“Consider this: You have a 12-gallon tank in your car. It gets you around just fine, but you have to go to the gas station more often than you would if you had a 15-gallon tank. Would you rather have a 12-gallon tank or a 15-gallon tank? We make the 15-gallon tank.”
